Changes that occur throughout your life and the lives of those living in your home can affect your auto insurance rates resulting in an increase or decrease in your premium. Here are some events that may affect the price you pay for insurance:

  • Getting married You may be eligible for a multi-car discount when you and your spouse place your vehicles under one policy.
  • Changing your residence address? Moving to a new location may result in a change in auto insurance rates. For instance, if you live in an urban area you will generally pay more for auto insurance than those who live in rural areas. This is because large cities have denser populations than outlying areas, so the risk for an accident is higher. Perhaps your vehicle will be garaged in your new location and no longer parked at the curbside when not in use, so the cost may go down. These and many other factors can affect your insurance premium.
  • Adding a teen driver Although newer drivers and those under age 25 often pay higher insurance rates, your teenager may be eligible for discounts if certain criteria are met. Call me and I can make sure you are taking advantage of all available discounts.
  • Changing jobs If you’re starting a new job and the length of your commute to work changes, it can result in a change in your premium.

Consolidate and save When you consolidate all your insurance policies with Farmers you may qualify for discounts including a multi-car discount — for multiple vehicles in the household — and/or a multi-line discount — for having other insurance (home and auto) with Farmers.

Understand your options As our lives change, so do our insurance needs — we should get together to review your policies annually.
